What do I need to do for pupils registering with EAL?

Modified on Fri, 06 Oct 2023 at 11:08 AM

There is no option for extra time to be added for pupils with EAL (English as an Additional Language).

The Common Pre-Tests are accessible to applicants, including those with EAL. Reasonable adjustments may be applied, the nature of which will depend on the candidate's specific needs. For applicants with EAL, this may include using a standard bilingual paper dictionary. This would need to be agreed upon between the invigilation centre and the prospective senior schools.

In individual cases, schools may decide that not all test elements are a suitable form of assessment for a candidate whose first language is not English.
