Occasionally, guardians may need to update their child’s SEND status at short notice due to a new diagnosis or receipt of updated documentation from the current school.
We strongly encourage guardians to discuss any ongoing SEND evaluations or potential diagnoses with all prospective senior schools during the admissions process - even if formal documentation is not yet available. This ensures that the senior school can provide appropriate support for the candidate throughout the admissions process.
Please follow the steps below to update the SEND status on the applicant profile.
Informing the senior school and invigilation centre
First, you must contact the prospective senior schools informing them of the candidate's updated needs and any requested access arrangements as soon as possible, to ensure a smooth testing experience for your child.
All prospective senior schools must approve any access arrangements before the testing date.
Some senior schools may require further information before approving access arrangements, so we strongly advise having this conversation with the prospective senior schools before contacting ISEB.
You should also inform the candidate’s invigilation centre of any new access arrangements. This is to ensure that the invigilation centre can provide these arrangements for you.
Requesting a reset of the SEND status
Once you have contacted the prospective senior schools, you can Submit a Support Ticket requesting a reset of the SEND status. Please include the following information in your ticket:
- The candidate’s full name
- The applicant ID number
- Confirmation that you have contacted the prospective senior schools
- Confirmation that we may access your account to reset the SEND status
- A short explanation of the situation i.e. why you are requesting the reset, how soon the tests are
Providing this information will speed up the process of the SEND reset.
The invigilation centre will need to re-approve the candidate on their portal.
Please note: ISEB cannot upload any SEND documentation or request access arrangements on your behalf. After the SEND status has been reset, you can upload the documentation and any other information you think is necessary.
