To check if your system meets the requirements to access the test portal, please check all of the requirements listed below at least 2 weeks before the assessment is scheduled.
It is crucial to run the Diagnostic Tool on all machines accessing the assessment. When running the diagnostics prior to commencing live tests, ensure the laptop is running in the context of the student so that any student-specific firewall restrictions are enforced and can be checked.
Please ensure that your IT department has reviewed the system requirements well in advance. Early coordination will help avoid any last-minute issues and ensure everything is in place for a smooth testing experience.
Please check the system requirements listed below to identify if any of these points could be causing your error.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Review the details below with your IT department to support a smooth and effective testing day.
Devices
- Due to the nature of Apple devices, there might be issues with the way the questions are presented.
- Due to this, we recommend only using PCs/laptops.
- We do not recommend any handheld devices.
Internet
- The Common Pre-Tests are all online, so an internet connection is required.
- We recommend a 10-15 Mbps connection speed for each machine for optimum performance when taking the assessment.
- There is no offline version of the test.
Browser
- The assessment platform will only support a Chrome browser; the minimum version required is 100. However, we recommend you have the latest version for reliability.
- The latest versions of Microsoft Edge Chromium or Firefox browsers are also compatible with the tests, but not frequently tested.
- Please check that all computers meet this requirement before the assessment.
- We recommend clearing the browsing history to ensure there are no cache or cookies hindering the testing platform:
Diagnostic Tool
The diagnostic tool should be used two weeks ahead of the test on all IT equipment that will be used. This tool will identify if there are any issues (e.g., firewall systems) that may prevent the tests from running.
- This diagnostic tool checks the required service connections for the session you are about to host.
- You should run this check one week ahead of your scheduled session date to ensure that any issues identified can be dealt with ahead of time.
- If there are any errors in the report, please download your report and contact ISEB by completing the following form.
Please note that the URLs listed in the report must be whitelisted at your school to ensure that all functions work as expected. Please ask your IT department to do this. List of URLs to 'whitelist':
- Atlas - https://api.century.tech
- AWS Cognito - https://cognito-idp.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com
- Helios - https://api.eva.tech
- MathJax lib - https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com
All necessary details to assist you in preparing for and managing the live testing days are included in two key resources:
- Invigilation Centre Guide - This guide helps you prepare, set up, and manage the Common Pre-Tests.
- Guide to Administering the Common Pre-Tests and Troubleshooting - This provides step-by-step instructions for test day, along with solutions to common technical issues.
We recommend reviewing the Invigilation Centre Guide at least two weeks before the tests, and the Guide to Administering the Common Pre-Tests and Troubleshooting one week prior to the testing day.
Ensure you have access to all the applicant codes ahead of the assessment. Applicants will need these codes to log into the Test Portal. Please ensure that the applicants know these tests should only be accessed at the designated invigilation centre.
Applicants will need access to one computer per person.
